COLLEGE STATION, Texas A popular College Station dance club is closing its doors to make way for a popular franchise.

For close to two years, Rockies fans have been boot scooting on over to the club at the Post Oak Mall just off Highway 6 near Harvey Road. Rockies owner Cari Rice said the club will open its doors one last time Saturday, August 10.

Senior leasing manager for Post Oak Mall Jim Goold said they asked Rice to move her club so they could make room for Toby Keith's I Love This Bar & Grille. Goold said Toby Keith's is a better fit for the mall, and is expected to open sometime in the Spring of 2014.

Goold said plans to relocate Rockies to a different location in the mall fell through.

Rice said she has her sights on a new location just off Highway 30 between Elmo Weedon Road and Hardy Weedon road. The new location sits just inside the Bryan city limits border.

The new location for Rockies isn't quite ready for new construction. Assistant Director of Development with the City of Bryan said the land is currently classified as Agricultural-Open District. Zimmerman said a request to change the classification to Commercial District was recently sent to council for their approval. The item is expected to be on the August 27 agenda for a first reading.

Rice said she expects the new club to be about the same size as the old one. She said she expects business to do well.
