SEC: Fact or Fiction?

It seems like everyone is buzzing about Texas A&M possibly withdrawing from the Big 12.

"I heard that it doesn't look like it's really going to happen," football fan, Sam Canavati, said.

Katelyn Horner, with Aggieland Outfitters and Kalcorp Enterprises, said, "They're excited about the change, whatever it may be."

Media outlets in and outside of Texas seem to have "inside sources."
The most recent infamous report came out of the New York Times, only adding to the massive amount of rumors.

Jason Cook, the university's VP of marketing and communication, released this statement in response;

"While we appreciate the tremendous interest in Texas A&M's conference exploration, it is not our intent to provide a play-by-play of complex discussions in the media. The proliferation of social media - as well as the pressure for reporters to be "first" - has certainly fueled the rumors and speculation of what our next steps may be."

"I'd rather see them stick it out. There's no better rivalry anywhere than UT and A&M," said Canavati.

What we do know for sure, according to the university and the Big 12, is that A&M President R. Bowen Loftin asked the Big 12 for guidance on proper exit procedures, should the Ags decide to leave, and the Big 12 responded back with that material Monday.

Horner said, "We went ahead and placed an order after hearing the main buzz."

Aggieland Outfitters is one local retailer that's not waiting for the official announcement.
They ordered SEC t-shirts, flags, caps and koozies last week.

"We will be having SEC logo gear here in our stores starting this weekend," added Horner. "We've had customers coming in saying, I've booked my stuff for this year-hotel rooms and arrangements, I just want to know what's next!"

Whether you're for or against the move, you'll have to wait and see if it is indeed time to say hello to SEC blue and yellow.
