Sam Houston State fans walked away from Pizza Hut Park in Frisco, Texas, Saturday afternoon heartbroken, but not deterred.

The sense of school pride was seen in the smiling faces and big hugs being shared outside the gates.

Fans gathered to see the SHSU Football team get back on the buses back to Huntsville.

"They have nothing to be ashamed of or hold their head down," said George Simpson. His son plays on the team.

"They had a great season. Coach Fritz and his staff, they got it together in one year, having a 6-5 last year, and this year going undefeated. Not too many teams, not too many coaches can say that."

"It hurts," shared Kimberly Galvan. Her son is number #93 T.C. Galvan. "It's been an awesome year. Our boys have done so well and, you know, its just heartbreaking to see them lose at the last minute. I don't know, it's just devastating."

Even though the Bearkats lost in the National Championship game, many fans know this isn't the only time the Kats will be here.

"Our boys have done so good and we'll be back next year. So watch out! Eat'em Up Kats!" says Galvan.
