Scattering Seeds of Love in Navasota

Keep Navasota Beautiful Commission and residents remembered loved ones as they scattered Texas bluebonnet seeds along the City's entrance monument off State Highway 6 North Saturday morning.

Connie Clements was one of a few Navasota residents who purchased a one-pound bag of Texas bluebonnet seed for $20.

In addition, an acknowledgment card will be sent to acknowledging the donation made towards the project.

"My husband passed away last year and he loved blue bonnets and this is just something I wanted to do in his memory," said Clements.

Scott McDonald has been on the Keep Navasota Beautiful Commission for three years now and said Saturday's seed scattering also touches his heart on a personal level.

"Well, I think about my father, my grandfather and other people I've lost and a couple people with the City they've lost, we're remembering some of them today," said McDonald.

Now Clements can show the world her love for her husband every day.

"When I drive in to Navasota every day from work, I'll think of him in the spring when I see the blue bonnets," said Clements.

McDonald said last year, the Commission hosted a similar project, planting wildflowers at Six Flags Memorial at August Horst Park.

"It turned out beautifully," said McDonald.

McDonald said he hopes these seeds bloom into something just as beautiful come spring.
