Serial Thief Arrested in Bryan

Updated: Thu 1:36 PM, Mar 07, 2013

A College Station woman was arrested Saturday after attempting to steal almost $700 worth of clothing and electronics from the Wal-Mart in Bryan.

Police say Toliver placed several stolen items in her bag, then ran out of the store without paying. Bryan police were eventually able to catch the suspect hiding under a truck in the Wal-Mart parking lot, according to probable cause documents.

Police say Toliver already had an active warrant for her arrest out of Bastrop County.

Public records show 35-year-old Lawanda Toliver has been convicted of theft seven times.

She's charged with theft, resisting and evading arrest. She remained in the Brazos County Jail Sunday with a $27,000 bond.
