Services for College Station's late city manager will be Tuesday and Wednesday.
Frank Simpson, who died Saturday of an apparent heart attack, will have a public visitation Tuesday from 5:00-7:30 p.m. at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, with a rosary right after the visitation.
Wednesday at 10:00 a.m., a memorial service will be held at the same church.
Simpson will then be laid to rest in a private graveside service.
College Station's city hall will be closed from 9:30 a.m to 2:00 p.m. so city officials can attend the service. Phones will be manned at the city offices.
The family of Simpson has requested contributions be made in his memory to the American Heart Association or the Frank Simpson Children's College Trust Fund, care of Prosperity Bank. This is in lieu of flowers.
The 49-year-old who had been appointed city manager earlier in the year suffered the heart issue while working at home. He was rushed to the College Station Medical Center, where he later died.
College Station Mayor Nancy Berry, with approval from the governor's office, has ordered U.S. and state flags to be flown at half staff at city facilities through Wednesday.
Kathy Merrill, an assistant and deputy city manager in College Station since 2006, is now the interim city manager. The city council is set to hold a special meeting Thursday on the situation with that job.
