Smoke Testing in Bryan to Begin Wednesday

BRYAN, Texas Starting Wednesday, September 25, around 8:00 a.m., field crews from Bryan's Water Services Department will be performing smoke testing of the sanitary sewer lines to identify broken pipes and other defects. Field crews will inject smoke into the sewer lines through manholes in order to perform this test.

Field crews will enter properties to document defects. At no time will crews need to enter private residences. Citizens do not need to be home during the test.

Testing could continue intermittently through September and possibly in to October. The target area consists of properties located within the boundaries of 1100 through 2900 Block of Finfeather Road, 1400 through 2300 Block of Fountain Avenue, West Dodge Street, Atkins Street, Union Street, Northern Street, 500 to 600 Block of West Carson Street, Bomber Drive, Churchill Drive, Roosevelt Street, 400 to 700 Block of Williamson Drive, Ashford Hills Drive, Pepper Tree Drive, Poplar Circle, Cypress Bend Circle, Evergreen Circle, Sprucewood Street, 2800 to 2900 Block of Forestwood Drive, Forest Bend Drive, Verde Drive, Silver Spur Circle, Westridge Court, Westridge Circle, Webhollow Circle, Cindy Lane, 800 Block of Stuart Street, 1200 to 1300 Block of Bittle Lane, Fawnwood Drive, Northcrest Drive, Michael Lane, 300 to 400 Block of Palasota Drive, West Pease Street, 1000 and 1100 Block of Groesbeck Street, Trant Street, and Sunset Street.

The smoke will exit from vent pipes on the roofs of houses and commercial businesses, from manholes, and ground where broken sewer pipes may exist. The smoke is non-toxic, leaves no residue and creates no fire hazard. The smoke will not enter a house unless there is defective plumbing present or the drain traps are dry. To help prevent smoke from entering a home or commercial business, please pour about 1 gallon of water into any seldom-used drain.
