A student passed out and was non-responsive at the College Station High School gym Tuesday afternoon while playing dodge-ball. CPR was administered and an Automated External Defibrillator was used until an ambulance arrived. The student was then taken to College Station Medical Center where he later passed away.

Credible sources have confirmed the student who died was Jacob Simmons, a 15-year-old student.

At this time an exact cause of death has not been determined.

News 3 spoke with a student who was in the gym at the time of the incident and asked not to be identified.

“Just shock. No one would have believed it would happened. It just happened in the first year of school. Like you’d think it would have happened in a sport like football where everything is just so fast paced and very violent but this was just a light-hearted game. We were just having fun. Just all this all a sudden. It’s just a complete shock," said an unidentified College Station High School Sophomore.

Beginning Wednesday morning, CSISD will have the crisis counseling team available at CSHS to help grieving students and staff through this very difficult time.

More information will be updated as soon as it becomes available.
