Survivor of Deadly Carlos Crash Listed in Serious Condition, 2nd Driver Released

BRYAN - A hospital spokesperson says a woman who survived a deadly crash in which her husband was killed yesterday remains in serious condition Wednesday night at St. Joseph Hospital in Bryan.

62-year-old Cheryll Gerber and her husband Howard were in a northbound car which had stopped at the intersection of Highway 30 and F-M 244 in Grimes County near Carlos.

Troopers say their car pulled out in front of a bread truck and they were broadsided by the truck.
65-year-old Howard Gerber died at the scene. The driver of the truck, 57-year-old Benjamin Short of Bryan was also taken to St. Joseph Hospital. He was treated and is now out of the hospital.
