Investigators with the Grimes County Sheriff's office identified two men involved in a short high speed chase Thursday afternoon.
They say 19-year-old Thomas Acosta and 30-year-old Benjamin Molina were arrested and charged in connection with a traffic stop that turned into a foot chase.
Law enforcement stopped the vehicle on northbound Highway 6 for a passing violation, and as a deputy was approaching, they say the driver sped away.
Officers took off in pursuit for about a minute, and then the car crashed into a telephone poll near County Road 450.
Police say the driver, Molina, got out and ran into a nearby trailer home to hide, but a woman there called 911.
Molina was soon arrested and charged with a felony of evading arrest.
Both men have been charged with felony level possession of marijuana.
