Texas A&M University police are looking into more than 40 burglaries that happened at on campus dorms during home football games.

"They took some cash, a calculator and then a camera,” said Mathew Koestner, a member of the Texas A&M Corp of Cadets.

He lives in one of the cadet residence halls on campus. After celebrating a win over Sam Houston State Saturday, Koestner came back to his dorm.

"I started looking closer and things were gone. I started to talk to other people, and it was a dorm wide thing. Everybody on all four floors had things taken,” said Koestner.

University police say more than 20 burglaries were reported after Saturday's game at a number of the corps dorms. Items stolen varied from cash to electronics.

"We don't have many burglaries or thefts in these residence halls, so to have this many in this short of time, it is definitely alarming,” said Lt. Allan Baron with the University Police Department.

For all home games this season, police say they are investigating more than 40 burglary cases from those dorms.

"Many of the burglaries occurred in residence rooms where the doors were unlocked or windows in the first floor level were left unsecure,” said Lt. Baron.

Koestner’s dorm room door was locked, and he says he learned the hard way.

"Definitely locking the door for next week,” said Koestner.

Police say they don't have any suspect information.

If anyone has information regarding the burglaries, you are asked to call University Police at 979-845-2345.
