Some people like it. Others can't live without it.
"It's an experience. You have to enjoy what you're drinking," said barista Sam Olmedo.
Olmedo owns 1541 Pastries and Coffee in College Station, latte is his life.
"Not only look good but taste good," said Olmedo.
When Sam and his wife Anel opened 1541 a year ago, they wanted to do something unique.
"Of course there's other places you can buy coffee, but we wanted to make a specialty coffee."
So that's when Sam got stylish.
"We've been kind of artistic all our lives," said Olmedo.
Every latte and cappuccino sold at 1541 has a little flair.
"It takes a lot of practice," said Olmedo.
A little pizzazz.
"If you don't do it right, then it's not going to come out," said Olmedo.
And it never disappoints.
"Once they see it they say, wow this is nice. They take a picture and most of the time post it on Facebook," said Olmedo.
Sam and his wife are known for making designs in the froth of their drinks.
"I got a panda. You can still kind of see it, I drank a little bit of it," said Daniella Podolak with a snicker.
And now the designer drink is a smash thanks to social networks.
"I put it on Facebook, checked in, and sent it to three of my good friends," said Podolak.
"I saw a picture on Facebook and knew I had to check it out," said A&M student Jennifer Harris.
Harris got one of the more popular designs, a dragon.
"It's cool to have something different. The other coffee shops are nice but this one adds a little bit extra to the coffee just to make it a little more fun," said Harris.
Fun for fans of coffee and a little culture.
"We want to make the people happy every time they see their coffee. We want to give you a piece of art that you're going to enjoy," said Olmedo.
Sam says he only serves the finest Honduran and Italian coffee.
He came up with the name 1541 in reference to the town of Morelia in Mexico. It was established in 1541 by Spain and it happens to be the town he married his wife in.
