Teen Killed in ATV Accident

A Hearne teenager died Wednesday after an ATV he was driving struck a tree, according to Texas DPS. A passenger was taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The accident occurred at 2:20 p.m. Wednesday afternoon.

Reports indicate De'Jon Eugene Pierce, 17, of Hearne, and Gerjuan Lamar Huffman, 18, of Hearne, were traveling southwest on Trojacek Road, in Robertson County, when the 2004 Honda 4-wheeler they were riding on traveled into a ditch and struck a tree. Pierce was pronounced dead at the scene. Huffman was transported to St. Joseph Health System in Bryan with cuts and abrasions.

DPS Trooper reports indicate neither was wearing a helmet.
