Teen Sentenced to Probation for Franklin Fatal Car Accident

It's been over a year since 16-year-old Christine Jones was killed after the truck she was riding in crashed. The 16-year-old behind the wheel of that truck, Justin Lehoski, was in court Wednesday.

Rachel Choate and her family have been waiting for this day since they learned that her sister was no longer with them.

It's been over a year since she and her parents buried her sister, Christine.

Chris, as she was called, died last year over Easter weekend. She was riding in 16-year-old Justin Lehoski's truck, when he lost control and crashed. Chris was thrown from the truck and killed.

Investigators said that high speed was a factor.

A year later, a packed courtroom. Everyone wearing Chris' favorite color: purple.

Her sudden death left a scar across the Franklin community. None more visible than the ones on the arms of her parents and sister.

"We all have this tattoo on our arms, "together and apart." It's really cool because it's in a place where everyone notices it and I get to share that with a lot of people," explains Rachel Choate, Chris' sister.

As for Justin Lehoski and his family, Rachel says she prays for them.

"I hope that he can take this and take positive things from it and move on with his life, because Chris doesn't get to he should really take that to the full advantage and really impact people in a positive way," says Choate.

Just like the positive impact that Chris left on the small community of Franklin.

Many in the courtroom expected Justin Lehoski to plead guilty. Instead that plea was changed to No Contest in the hearing. Because Justin Lehoski is still a juvenile, the court records are sealed. But in court this morning, the judge did say Lehoski would serve probation as punishment.
