Texas A&M President Greets Parents and Students During Open House

The Texas A&M campus is staying busy this weekend in celebration of parents.

Hundreds of people came through the door of the President's home Saturday afternoon to shake hands and take pictures with Texas A&M President Dr. R. Bowen Loftin.

He and his wife Karin host the open house each year to meet and greet students and their families in town.

A lot is happening on campus this weekend including a special midnight yell Friday night.

"Parents' Weekend's turned into an extraordinary event this year with ring day going on Friday. That kicked things off with almost 4,000 Aggie rings being given out which brings about 15,000 people to the table here. And of course over the whole weekend we have many, many events going on here on campus involving student awards in particular for both the student body in general and the Corps of Cadets," said R. Bowen Loftin, Ph.D., Texas A&M University President.

Parents of the year will be announced Sunday with an awards ceremony at 9:30 A.M. at Rudder Auditorium.
