Texas Parks and Wildlife Department Gets $500,000 Donation

More aid is coming to the financially strapped Texas Parks and Wildlife Department after devastating drought and wildfires this past year.

The parks department is announcing a $500,000 donation from the Texas Parks and Wildlife Foundation.

The state had made a public plea for more attendance and donations last month to make up for a $4.6 million shortfall.

Record heat, the drought and budget cuts have threatened state park operations in recent months.

More than $460,000 had already been raised since an appeal was made December 6, 2011.
