A local non-profit organization, the Mercy Project, is trying once again to break the official Guinness World Record for the longest baseball game this weekend.

The game started at 7:30 Thursday evening and is scheduled to end at 9:30 Saturday night at American Momentum Ballpark in Bryan. The group says 56 players from across Texas will participate.

The ultimate goals of the event are to create awareness about the plight of child slaves around the world and raise money that will directly help children in slavery in Ghana, Africa. The Mercy Project estimate the event will raise more than $40,000 to fund its charitable projects.
