A Brenham company that supplies and manufactures high alloy machining solutions and provides a wide variety of manufacturing services has reported the theft of thousands of dollars of precious metal.
Police says officials with the Magnetic Instruments Corporation are conducting an internal investigation after ten bars of Inconel were stolen from the company. The bars weigh about 80 pounds a piece and it's believed they were taken sometime this weekend.
Inconel is a nickel-base alloy with chromium and iron. Among other things, they're used in gas-turbine blades.
The stolen bars are estimated to be worth a total of more than 16-thousand dollars.
