WASHINGTON COUNTY - More than 15,000 marijuana plants have been confiscated by authorities in Washington County.
According to Sheriff Otto Hanak, an "observant property owner" noticed the growing operation in the northeastern portion of the county. A specific location was not given.
Deputies with Washington County, criminal investigators, and agents with the Department of Public Safety's Criminal Investigation Division seized the plants, which DPS estimates are valued at more than $7.5 million.
Hanak says the operation was likely abandoned by the criminals responsible for it because they knew they had been discovered by the neighboring property owner.
