Investigators are trying to figure out what caused a fatal, single-vehicle, accident this morning in Montgomery County.

A 22-year-old driver from Tomball was killed after investigators say he was ejected from his SUV after it slammed into a tree.

State troopers say around 2:30 a.m., Dustin McCarty was driving south on the 32000 block Walnut Creek near Turtle Creek when all of a sudden he left the roadway crossing through a fence.

Investigators say after his SUV flipped several times, it slammed into a tree ejecting McCarty.

The impact was so strong that it not just uprooted the tree but snapped the top out of it.

McCarty was pronounced dead at the scene. His body was transported to the Montgomery County Forensic Center for autopsy.

State troopers said they don't think alcohol was involved.
