Top A&M Official Resigns

Updated: Tue 11:07 AM, Oct 02, 2012

A top Texas A&M official has resigned his post.

Jeff Seemann had served as the university's vice president for research, but Monday, he tendered his resignation.

"President R. Bowen Loftin announced that he is working to identify and announce an individual to fill the VPR position in an interim capacity in the near future," a statement on the A&M website read Tuesday.

A&M has no comment on Seemann's decision because it is a personnel matter.

The move came the same day the president and CEO of the 12th Man Foundation, Miles Marks, announced his immediate resignation.

In 2009, Seemann left his post as dean of the University of Rhode Island’s College of the Environment and Life Sciences to come to A&M.

On August 15, it was announced by A&M System Chancellor John Sharp that Seemann's responsibilities were to be "consolidated" to help him concentrate on his responsibilities as A&M vice president and at the Office of Sponsored Research Services. He was named executive director of OSRS.

“This move will allow Dr. Seemann to add value in areas where he has tremendous experience and expertise,” said Sharp in a statement August 15.
