The gas guzzlers are in full use for millions of travelers.
Traveling light during the Christmas weekend isn't usually the case, and that's why drivers like Brice Easterling decided to go with the bigger ride.
"Per fill up it's about $100 right now, about 26 gallons of diesel. It's pretty expensive right now, but again it depends on how much stuff you have to haul. It works out though. I do own a car. It's more economical for in town but just can't carry anything,” said Easterling.
Paying at the pump is something many travelers have taken into account when looking at their holiday budget.
"It's scary like being a student and working full time, it's really difficult to keep up with the gas prices and my car payment,” said Darrell Williams who is traveling from College Station to Dallas. "Right now we are going to put a little bit of gas in, see how far it gets us and hopefully it will be all the way home.”
Good news is the gas prices in the Brazos Valley are lower than the national average which is $3.21 cents according to AAA.
