WALLER, Texas – A 22-year-old Waller County man suspected of murdering his parents and brother wasn’t saying much in jail Wednesday, and investigators were still working to determine a possible motive in the shocking crime.
Investigators believe Trey Sesler opened fire on his parents, Lawton Ray and Rhonda Wyse Sesler, and his brother, 26-year-old Mark Alan Sesler, at their home in Waller – possibly sometime Monday afternoon.
Police found the bodies around 1 p.m. Tuesday, after concerned family members called them for a welfare check.
They described the scene as a "war zone."
"The best way for me to describe the residence is it looked like a war zone – a tremendous amount of damage inside the residence, the crime scene was not contained to one area of the residence. It was from one end of the residence to the other, front to back, which is unusual," Waller Police Chief Phil Rehak said.
Trey Sesler was arrested at a friend’s home near Magnolia, just hours after the bodies were found. Investigators said Sesler had several guns with him at the time.
He was being questioned by Texas Rangers in the Montgomery County Jail Wednesday morning.
Police have said they don’t know why Sesler would want to kill his family, but that it was an exceptionally violent, angry crime.
Family members said the young man, who often posted videos online about guns and cartoons, was suffering from some type of mental illness.
But investigators on Wednesday said they have no idea what exactly might be wrong.
All they know is, Sesler is eating fine and keeping quiet.
