BRYAN - Two separate Bryan daycares that were under investigation earlier this year for allegations of misconduct have now been cited by the state.

The Department of Family and Protective Services was investigating St. Joseph Eagle's Nest on Preston Avenue after a caregiver allegedly used packing tape to restrain a toddler.

News 3 learned the Camelot Learning Center in Bryan was also being investigated after a caregiver allegedly dropped a baby. Lincoln Shumbera, 5 months old, was airlifted to the hospital with critical injuries.

The caregivers involved with the incidents at both facilities were fired as soon as management found out what happened. In fact, one caregiver at St. Joseph Eagle's Nest Preston campus was reportedly let go for knowing about the taping and not reporting it.

After investigating for almost two months, the Department of Family and Protective Services says St. Joseph Eagle's Nest on Preston has been cited for employees failing to demonstrate good judgment and self-control.

The Camelot Learning Center was cited for "failing to ensure that no child is abused, neglected, or exploited," according to a DFPS spokesperson.

Both daycares still have due process, so they can appeal the state's decisions. The two facilities remain open.
