Two Bryan Women Arrested for Medicare Fraud

7-Count Indictment Including Charges of:

-Medicare and Medicaid fraud/submitting claims for equipment not delivered

-kickbacks to recruiters for referral of beneficiaries to Yellabone Medical Equipment

-receiving $1.1 million from fraudulent claims

Two Bryan women were arrested and charged with health care fraud on Thursday.

Federal prosecutors say 41 year old Yolanda Nowlin and 49 year old Carla Parnell engaged in a scheme to defraud Medicare and Medicaid.

A 7-count indictment alleges they submitted claims for medical equipment that were not delivered, not wanted, and not needed by beneficiaries.

The indictment also alleges Nowlin and Parnell paid kickbacks to recruiters for the referral of patients to their company, Yellabone Medical Equipment in Bryan.

The U.S. Attorney's office says the pair received more than $1.1 million from fraudulent claims between July of 2003 and December of 2009.
