COLLEGE STATION, Texas Two construction workers were injured after they fell four stories from an apartment complex and retail development being built across from the A&M campus.
The accident happened at Northpoint Crossing on the corner of University Drive and Texas Avenue just before noon Tuesday.
We learned Tuesday afternoon the two men who are from the Dallas area were working on scaffolding on the 4th floor outside the building when they both fell for some reason.
Just before 6 P.M. a representative for the company overseeing the project told us both men have been released from the hospital.
One of them, a 35-year-old man had been taken to the College Station Medical Center, while a 33-year-old man had been taken to St. Joseph Hospital in Bryan.
Their names have not been released and police are investigating the incident.
"Two workers had been on scaffolding that was affixed to the exterior wall of the building at that location. They found that they had fallen from that location. There are no indications of any type of criminal activity at this time. It is being viewed as a workplace accident," said Lt. Chuck Fleeger with the College Station Police Department.
While we don't know their names, the Project Superintendent with Construction Enterprises, Incorporated, which is overseeing the project, says the two men are subcontractors for another company.
Members of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration or OSHA have been notified of the incident.
Northpoint Crossing is scheduled to open in August.
