LEON COUNTY Two suspects are on the run Thursday after an early morning attempted break-in at the Stoney's Market in Jewitt.
The Leon County Sheriff's Office says around 2 a.m. Thursday, three men tried to break in to the Stoney's Market with crowbars. The store was closed at the time, but a clerk was still inside. The clerk startled the suspects and they fled the scene in a car. The clerk called 911 and a sheriff's deputy stopped the suspects shortly thereafter on Highway 7, near Robbins.
When the vehicle stopped, two of the suspects jumped out and ran. The driver of the car was arrested. The Sheriff's Office called in the tracking dogs from the TDCJ Boyd Unit. After about 8 miles, the Sheriff called the search off near County Road 498 and Highway 7.
The two suspects are described as black males wearing all dark clothing. Deptuies are following leads and searching the area.
