Two Trapped After Head-On Crash

Two people are recovering in New Caney after a head on collision trapped them inside.

Police say the cause of the crash may have been a driver falling asleep at the wheel.

Just after 5 this morning, the New Caney Fire Department was dispatched to the accident on FM 1485 near Vick Dr.

Investigators say a Geo Tracker was southbound on FM 1485 in the right lane when a Toyota Rav 4, which was northbound, crossed several lanes striking the Tracker head-on. Both drivers were entrapped. The driver in the Tracker was in critical condition and PHI Air Medical was dispatched to the scene.

The driver of the Toyota was transported by ground to Hermann Hospital in the Woodlands.

The initial investigation reveals the driver of the Toyota may have fallen asleep at the wheel but the investigation is continuing.
