Two men convicted of killing the dog of a former Navy SEAL were sentenced Wednesday in Huntsville.
The Huntsville Item says 24-year-old Alfonso Hernandez and 21-year-old Michael Edmonds Junior were convicted of animal cruelty for killing a yellow Labrador named Dasy that was a therapy dog for former Navy SEAL Marcus Luttrell.
The name Dasy was an acronym for the SEAL team members Luttrell lost in Afghanistan.
Edmonds confessed he shot the dog, and testified that Hernandez beat the dog with a bat.
Both were sentenced to two years in state jail, but Edmonds' sentence was suspended, and he was given 5 years probation.
