BRYAN, Texas A Winter Storm Watch is in effect for the Brazos Valley as an arctic cold front barrels this way.
The TxDOT Bryan Office is gearing up for the chance that sanding operations could be needed beginning Thursday night.
Just last month TxDOT crews were preparing for the icy blast we had then.
Dump trucks will be used to spread a gravel-like substance along with the de-icer magnesium chloride on bridges and overpasses should we get any ice or snow.
TxDOT has 40 trucks on standby in this district and will be keeping a close eye on the weather if it turns icy.
"I want everyone to know that in our ten counties we're prepared to go. We have our trucks ready. We have our de-icing material on them, we have our magnesium chloride and we have our grade five rock in our trucks. We're ready to go," said Bob Colwell, TxDOT Bryan District Public Information Officer.
If conditions do get dangerous TxDOT asks you avoid the roadways if possible and if you are going to be out slow down and drive to the conditions.
