HUNTSVILLE - Two members of Huntsville's Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5871 are roughing it to raise money and collect donations for homeless vets.

Commander David Lanoue and Jeff Clark are living for three days this week in a dumpster in a Huntsville Walgreens parking lot, all with hopes of raising more than $7,000 to go to the comfort and well-being of vets in need.

Clark says he knows what they're enduring doesn't compare to the conditions his less fortunate comrades go through.

The two men will continue taking donations of cash and of cold weather gear for another two days. They say though their first day was promising, they have not yet reached their goals and hope the charitable gifts keep coming.

Donations can be taken at the drop-off site at the Walgreens store at the corner of 11th St. and Ave. Q. any time through Thursday.
