Irven E. “Skip” Wagner has been named president and CEO of the 12th Man Foundation following board of trustee approval today, as announced by Scott Taylor ’69, search committee chairman and former chairman of the board of trustees.

Wagner comes to Aggieland after an eight-year stint as the president and CEO of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. In that role, he worked with 27,000 volunteers and a full-time staff to manage a premier entertainment and civic event that has seen unparalleled growth during his tenure. Prior to that, Wagner was president and general manager of the Oklahoma State Fair from 2000 until 2003. A native of Ponca City, Okla., Wagner graduated from Oklahoma State University in 1982 with a degree in chemical engineering and from Harvard Business School in 1986 with a master's degree in business administration.

“I am looking forward to joining the first-class teams at the 12th Man Foundation and Texas A&M University,” Wagner says. “I am so excited for this opportunity to lead the 12th Man Foundation as Texas A&M moves into this pivotal point in our athletics history. It’s not every day you receive the chance to lead an already outstanding organization to even greater heights.”

“Skip is a proven leader, with a great track record, who will take the 12th Man Foundation to the next level,” said Scott Taylor. “The 12th Man Foundation is about to take on the largest capital campaign in Texas A&M athletics history with the redevelopment of Kyle Field. The hiring of Skip Wagner is a critical component to the success of that campaign.”

The search for the new president and CEO of the 12th Man Foundation was coordinated by Witt/Kieffer and the selection committee included: Frosty Gilliam ’80, Marcy Girton, Eric Hyman, Arno Krebs ’64, Artie McFerrin ’65, Chaz Neely ’62, Alan Roberts ’78, Cindy Taylor ’84, Scott Taylor ’69 and Sam Torn ’70.

Wagner and his wife of 30 years, Cindy, have four children. Allie ’08 (married to Nat Turner), Crystal, Jack ’17 and Mark. Wagner is expected start work at the 12th Man Foundation on April 15.
