A Washington County Sheriff's Deputy was recently awarded for his heroic efforts at the 135th Annual Training Conference in Corpus Christi.

Deputy Art Senteno was awarded the Texas Peacemaker Award by the Sheriff's Association of Texas for saving a Washington County man in March. Senteno jumped into action after he saw the man's home was burning and acted on instinct, and ultimately saved his life.

The Texas Peacemaker Award was established to honor law enforcement officials who have shown exemplified service to their community.
