COLLEGE STATION - Southwood Valley Elementary School closed early Monday because of a broken water line.
College Station city officials tell News 3 that a 6-inch water line at the intersection of Brothers and Deacon had a blowout sometime after 10:00 a.m. The line feeds the elementary school and had to be shut off immediately for repairs.
Because the repair was expected to take the rest of the day, College Station ISD officials decided to close Southwood Valley Elementary early.
Parents were asked to pick up their children by noon. Some third and fourth grade students were on a field trip. It was cut short so parents could be picked up around the same time.
The line was repaired around 4 p.m. Monday.
Classes are scheduled to resume tomorrow.
