West Nile Continues Popping Up at A&M

For three straight weeks, mosquitoes tested for West Nile Virus at the Texas A&M Golf Course have come up positive for the disease.

In addition, the Brazos County Health Department says other mosquitoes collected the same day, June 27, had WNV. They were taken from Cain Hall on campus and on Glade Street in College Station, with runs from just south of George Bush Drive to Southwest Parkway and parallel to Texas Avenue.

As with all other advisories issued by the department, this one Wednesday comes with the note that the entire county is considered positive for the disease.

Also as usual, the health department asks you to take precautions to defend against mosquitoes:

- drain standing water
- wear repellent with DEET
- stay indoors at dusk and dawn, the most active times of day for mosquitoes
- wear long sleeves and pants when outside
