White-Out Controversy Fades

No doubt the game was a sell-out, but the lingering question...was there a white-out?

Indeed in the student section... but there was a mix everywhere else.

"We just always wear maroon for college game day so somehow we dropped the ball and didn't hear about it, but we are here in spirit and that's what's important, isn't it?" said Aggie Esther Lopez.

"Didn't have any white A&M shirts and I figured at the time it would be half and half, and I have worn maroon to every other game so I just wore maroon," stated Brian Salato.

Although Athletic Director Bill Byrne wrote on his weekly blog "to always wear maroon because maroon is Texas A&M", the memo to wear white for the wildfire relief effort took precedent to some.

"We know some people who lost their homes in the fire, and we all bought maroon towels and wore white to honor them today," said David Stauch.

Jeff Pickering, the student body president had this to sayt about Byrne's comment, "I think he brought to light a conversation and that conversation that has ensued since then is that the student body is that the student body is stepping up to wear white and wave maroon and help our fellow Texans, and that is exactly what has happened."

The game was a success for the students. Not only was there a white-out on their side, but, more importantly, the Aggies wiped-out the Bears.
