It's normal to hear birds chirping in the Copperfield neighborhood in Bryan.
But one neighborhood mom, named Sandra, has gotten used to seeing one particular bird sitting above her front door every day.
The white pigeon showed up in Sandra's front yard nearly three years ago...and never left.
"We've come a long way in the 3 years since he was perched out in that tree," said Sandra.
It started with Sandra talking to him and feeding him. After a while, the bird warmed up to her.
Now, the two are almost inseparable.
"I thought it was really funny when I went walking one day, and there he comes," said Sandra. "He just started following me everywhere."
Sandra calls him "pretty bird", but she says her kids call him "chicken bird" because of the way he struts around.
"I've heard everything from, 'He just got lost and found his way here' to 'Maybe it's a deceased relative come back to be my guardian angel'. I don't know," said Sandra.
She may never know why the pigeon showed up at her house three years ago, but one thing is clear; her pretty bird is now part of the family.
White pigeons usually live between 10 and 12 years. Sandra says she plans to care for hers as long as he sticks around.
