Hempstead Citizens Fundraise To Combat Landfill Proposal

Updated: 01/21/2013 - Thousands of dollars were raised Saturday for a large group of Hempstead residents that are fighting to keep a proposed landfill from coming into their town.The group filed a lawsuit against the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality. TCEQ has yet to issue a permit to begin the building of a landfill off of Highway 290 and Highway 6. And local residents plan to continue to fight.
