A strong cold front has reached the Brazos Valley, and will continue to push south through the early evening hours. Mild temperatures are expected to sharply fall as strong, brisk north winds arrive. The Federal Courthouse in downtown Waco was quarantined after a suspicious powder was discovered Monday, but authorities now say the substance was not a chemical or biological toxin.
Two employees and two firefighters exposed to the substance were hospitalized as a precaution.
The building’s ventilation system was also shut down after the discovery because there were concerns the powder may have spread to other offices, employees were kept in the building while a HAZMAT team did its work.
After teams finished checking the building, the all clear was given around 6:30 p.m.
