COLLEGE STATION Texas A&M Police stopped a College Station man on a motorcycle early Monday morning for allegedly speeding and driving drunk.
According to the police report, 22-year-old Jeffrey William Lerch was riding his motorcycle north on FM 2818, when an officer saw him doing 75 mph. The speed limit on that stretch of road is 60 mph. The officer also noticed the bike had a rear tail lamp that didn't work.
When the officer spoke with Lerch he noticed several signs of alcohol, including the smell, according to the police report. Lerch performed and failed a field sobriety test and was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated. Lerch submitted to a breathalizer test. He blew a .207, over twice the legal limit.
He is in the Brazos County Jail under no bond.
