Gay Former N.J. Gov's Divorce Trial To Begin In Closed Court

TRENTON, N.J. (AP) - The divorce battle between New Jersey's gay
ex-governor and his wife is getting under way behind closed doors.
Dina Matos McGreevey made no
comment as she and her lawyer went through the front door of the
courthouse in Trenton. McGreevey and his lawyer went in the back.
He said only that it was a "beautiful day."
Proceedings will be private while arrangements are made for the
couple's only child, a 6-year-old girl.
McGreevey stepped down during his first term. In a nationally
televised speech, he said he was "a gay American" and that he'd
had an affair with a male staffer. The staffer has denied the
affair, and claims said he was sexually harassed by McGreevey.
Matos McGreevey alleges he committed fraud by marrying her. She
also wants $600,000 for time she would have spent at the governor's
mansion had her husband not resigned in disgrace in the fall of
