MARIETTA, Ga. (AP) - A Barack Obama T-shirt sparking vigorous
protest may also lead to a lawsuit.
A shirt being sold at a bar in Marietta, Georgia, shows cartoon
chimp Curious George, peeling a banana with the words "Obama in
'08" printed beneath.
The company that owns the rights to Curious George calls the
image offensive. A spokesman says that the shirt is "utterly out
of keeping with the values Curious George represents." He added
that all options to deal with the matter are on the table.
About a dozen people gathered outside the bar yesterday to
protest.
Mike Norman, who owns Mulligan's Food and Spirits says the
T-shirt is not meant to be racist, but critics say he's being
disingenuous.
