Reid wants a vote on Iraq spending this week
CAPITOL HILL (AP) - Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid says it
will "be extremely difficult" for the Senate to pass the Iraq war
funding bill this week.
Members of both parties have loaded up the bill with tens of
billions of dollars to fund domestic programs ranging from college
scholarships for returning veterans to heating subsidies for the
President Bush says he will veto any bill that goes beyond his
original spending request.
The Democrats have split the measure into two parts, non war
add-ons and Iraq. Reid says he wants the non-war items to be voted
