NEW YORK (AP) - A former New York City police detective accused
of forcing a 13-year-old runaway into prostitution has been
sentenced to more than three years in prison.
Wayne Taylor pleaded guilty last month to attempted kidnapping.
But Taylor says he was "100 percent innocent" of keeping the girl
captive earlier this year and compelling her to sell herself at
Prosecutor Richard A. Brown said after Monday's sentencing that
Taylor's accomplice was given the same prison term.
Taylor spent 14 years on the force. He resigned shortly before
entering his plea.
