MARATHON, Fla. (AP) - Two green sea turtles are leaving the
Florida Keys for their new home at a Connecticut aquarium via
Righty and Lefty were hatched from eggs nearly four years ago at
the Turtle Hospital in Marathon, Florida, as part of a research
project on a virus affecting sea turtles.
Officials decided not to release them into the ocean, fearing
the human-nurtured turtles wouldn't survive there.
Turtle hospital director Richie Moretti says he'll accompany the
turtles to their new home: a 19,000-gallon tank at The Maritime
Museum in Norwalk, Connecticut. They should arrive Friday morning.
