BEAUMONT, Texas (AP) More than two dozen people have been indicted for operating a drug distribution ring responsible for trafficking cocaine, marijuana and methamphetamine in several states, including Texas.

The U.S. attorney in eastern Texas, John M. Bales, announced the indictments against 28 people on Friday. He said in a news release that the drugs were distributed throughout much of Texas as well as to Alabama, Florida, Louisiana, Mississippi, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina and Oklahoma.

State and federal investigators began executing arrest warrants last week and successfully arrested 23 of the 28 suspects.

The defendants each face a minimum of 10 years and up to life in federal prison if convicted of one or more drug conspiracy charges.
