WASHINGTON (AP) - The Obama administration has redrawn its
strategy against drug traffickers. It relies on new technology and
old-fashioned police work to crack down on the extensive drug trade
along the U.S.-Mexican border.
A summary of the strategy obtained by The Associated Press
includes many of the plans announced earlier this year.
The major difference between this strategy and the government's
plan from two years ago is the focus on stopping weapons and cash
from crossing the border into Mexico.
More than 10,750 people have been killed in Mexico by drug
violence since December 2006. Officials say the drug cartels
operate in 230 U.S. cities.
