There was no 6-year-old boy in a homemade balloon that floated 50 miles over Colorado today. It turns out he was in the rafters of the family garage, hiding in a cardboard box.
But before that was learned, the panic sparked a frantic rescue
operation that halted some departures from Denver International
Airport. It was more than two hours before the balloon finally
returned to earth.
Falcon Heene says he was scared after his father had yelled at him earlier for climbing into a compartment on the homemade balloon. His brother saw Falcon in the compartment, but apparently didn't see him climb out.
