Texas Task Force 1, based out of College Station, deployed Thursday morning for Haiti. In all, 80 members were deployed, including urban search and resuce teams.
They will head to Ellington Field in Houston where they will fly to Haiti and are anticipated to be deployed for six days.
Texas Task Force 1 will help in aid after an 7 magnitude earthquake struck on Tuesday. According to Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, it's too early to make a firm estimate of the number of deaths. She says officials know some 3 million people, including 45,000 Americans, are affected and that "tens of thousands" are feared dead.
