ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. A New Mexico man who told Albuquerque police he beat, stabbed then threw his mother over a bridge into the Rio Grande because he believed she was a "clone" was been indicted.

A Bernalillo County grand jury indicted Martin Montano this week on kidnapping and attempted murder charges stemming from the bizarre case earlier this month.

A complaint says the 26-year-old tossed his 61-year-old Hope Montano from a bridge in Albuquerque after stabbing and choking her at her Albuquerque home. Authorities say he also stabbed and beat a man and tried to throw him over a bridge but was stopped by witnesses.

Both badly beaten victims were taken to an Albuquerque hospital.

It was not known if Montano had an attorney.
